FIELD NOTES

Practical notes for everyday technology work.

Clear, useful prompts for thinking about automation, software choices, and technical support.

AUTOMATION / FIELD NOTE 01

Before automating a task, make the steps visible.

Write down what starts the task, what information it needs, who touches it, and how you know it is finished. This map makes repeat work easier to discuss and can help identify where automation might fit.

02
TOOL CHOICE

Choose tools around the job to be done.

Start with the task, people, and constraints. Compare tools against those needs, then consider setup and how a choice will fit the work already in place.

03
IT SUPPORT

Give a support request useful context.

Describe what you were trying to do, what happened, and which tool or device was involved. Never include passwords or sensitive account details.

These notes are general guidance, not a substitute for reviewing a specific system or situation.
